spirits rules

ALL ENTRY FORMS AND SPIRITS MUST BE RECEIVED BY
February 22, 2008.

Judging: March 15-16, 2008
Please read carefully. Violation of the rules may result in disqualification and the forfeiture of fees and spirits (If you have any questions call the Competition office: 415.345.9000). To download a PDF of the rules, please click here.

1. Eligibility Requirements:

a. Any commercial spirits produced by a professional producer that complies with the classification codes.
b. The completed entry form with the fees must be received at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition office by February 22 (NOTE: Keep a copy of the completed entry form for your records).
c. All spirits must be received at the warehouse by February 22.
d. All entries from out of the United States must fill out the enclosed customs broker form. This will speed delivery to our warehouse and enable our customs broker to get your spirits through customs.
e. The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is not responsible for customs duty charges.

2. To enter your spirits:

a. FORMS AND FEES: The entry fee(s) is $400 per spirit entry. By February 22, send a completed copy of the enclosed form (keep a copy for your records) along with your payment to: San Francisco World Spirits Competition 3145 Geary Boulevard #437 San Francisco, CA U.S.A. 94111

b. SPIRITS: Send two (2) 750ml., or (2) Liter bottles per entry and a duplicate of the entry form by February 22, 2008, to:

3. Entry Qualifications:

a. There is no limit to the number of entries per producer. No spirit may be entered more than once in the same year by an entrant, even if it is marketed under different labels. Spirits entered in previous competitions are welcome.

4. Shipping:

a. SPIRITS ENTRIES MAY BE LEGALLY SHIPPED ANYWHERE WITHIN THE UNITED STATES. WRITE ON THE BOXES: "SAMPLE MATERIALS. NOT FOR RESALE. GLASS ENCLOSED." For shipments of more than one box, indicate that the box is "Box 1 of 4", "Box 2 of 4", etc.

5. Basis of Judging:

a. The judging will be by panels of qualified professional tasters.
b. Each spirits entry will, within reason and the discretion of the Judging Director and Managing Director, be evaluated within a peer group of similar spirits. The Events Directors reserve the right, however to arrange categories as they see fit in light of the number of entries.
c. The San Francisco World Spirits Competition awards will be made on a merit basis. The judges will not grant awards when, in their opinion, no spirits are worthy of an award.

6. Other rules:

a. Each producer winning a Sweepstakes, Double Gold, or Gold medal award agrees to provide San Francisco World Spirits Competition one (1) bottle for display purposes.
